We were very excited to grant Rose’s Living List wish. Eighty-nine year-old Rose was married to the late Ralph Joseph Sazio who was a football player, assistant coach, head coach general manager and team president for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Ralph also served as president of the Toronto Argonauts. He is a member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame (1998) as a builder. His major contribution was as the Tiger-cats’ head coach from 1963 to 1967, winning three Grey Cup championships during that span. He retired from coaching in 1967 as the most successful Tiger-Cat head coach to date in terms of championships and winning percentage.
When we asked Rose what her Living List wish was, it was to reunite with the Tiger-Cats and celebrate with a tailgate party to honour her husband’s memory and the 10th anniversary of his passing. Many members of Rose’s family and several Tiger-Cats alumni attended the party.
