300 Years of History

The history of Burlington stretches all the way back to when René-Robert Cavalier, Sieur de La Salle, first landed here in 1669. By the late 1700s waves of settlers from the British Isles and the American Revolutionary War developed the region into a prosperous agricultural community with mixed farming and cash crops of fruits and vegetables. Today, Burlington is experiencing a renewal with the influx of modern companies and high-tech industries turning this historic city into an exciting and highly successful urban centre.
